Oven Roasted Steak Kebabs

Welcome back!
Today, we have great kebab recipe involving a juicy steak! Kebab is actually an umbrella term for a variety of meat dishes from the Mediterranean to South Asia and in between. The types that are commonly known to be presented on skewers is the shish kebab, which comes from the Caucasus region. And that too is also a general term, as you can find shish kebabs of with all sorts of things on them; this one just uses steak because it's good!

Oven Roasted Steak Kebabs

Makes however many kebabs that you want.

Ingredients:

  • New York strip or Sirloin steak (it should be about 1 inch thick)
  • Red onions
  • Red bell pepper
  • Yellow bell pepper
  • Jalapeno
  • Zucchini
  • Mushrooms
  • Salt and pepper
  • Herbs/other seasonings (like garlic powder)
If you want, you can use your own marinade for the steak, whatever you like.

Directions:

  1. Cut the steak into about 1 inch cubes.
  2. Season the steak with salt, pepper and seasonings or with a marinade if you prefer.
  3. Cut everything else except for the mushrooms into similarly sized chunks (as in the picture above).
  4. Season these other ingredients with salt, pepper, and whatever seasonings.
  5. Put everything on the skewers. If you use bamboo skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  6. Spray some oil on the skewers.
  7. Bake in an oven at 425°F for 10-13 minutes. Flip the skewers around the halfway point.

The steak flavor is already great, so it's not really necessary to use a marinade; just salt and pepper is great! Plus, these are super customizable to whatever you have lying around! This is one of the most classic combinations, though the green bell pepper was substituted with jalapeno, giving it quite some spice. Other good ingredient choices could be pineapple, cherry tomatoes (they have to be pretty firm though), or other types of squash, like the yellow squash, which is really like zucchini, or even pumpkin, which is quite different. Also, if you don't even have all these ingredients, that's fine; it will still taste great! It's just good to have all the colors.
